At least he's "that" type.

As you know, I hadn't ridden Kao for 1 and a 1/2 weeks.
Got on him on Wednesday and he was perfect. A bit spooky but nothing major (there were new jumps and he was probably thinking AHMAGAD)

Haha, pointless update but hey. Will try get some new pictures :)

Wednesday 8 December 2010

The Holiday

sigh.
Well, I haven't ridden for well over a week now :/ and I'm not going to be able to until the 15th.
I think.
If Mum is healthy again...maybe.

I'm so, so sorry for the lack of updates. Everything is so hectic at the moment.
Our horse Ilex (a.k.a the life and soul of the yard) went to a new home on loan. Beautiful place, amazing people, only to have a massive accident in the field and have to be put down the next day. Vet said she slipped over and ripped her flexor tendon off and broke her leg. So, everyone was insanely shocked about that.

Mother was in hospital yesterday. So that was insane.

Hammie is hopefully being taken to his new home on Thursday (9th December). The woman is buying him unseen, but, she seems pretty in love with him. Just hope the daughter loves him too!

We *may* be getting a new addition.
But more on that later.

I do however, have some recent pictures :)

He was saying hello from the field. At the moment we're doing individual turnout for him, and then *fingerscrossed* my genius plan comes together he'll go out with the new one.
Must. Not. Get. Hopes. Up.
D:

As for rugs. Hm. Well I guess you could call the following "A Guide To Rugging A Clipped Pony"
In order from closest to his body to outa-shell. He's currently in:
  • MW Sheepskin lined no-hood
  • MW  no-hood Turnout
  • MW hooded Turnout
  • LW Hooded Turnout

It's a lot, he also has brushing boots on because somehow, they might stop his leg fluff growing back a quick.
So, SO super pissed off that he hasn't got a stable. Until this week, he's was doing the most work. Instead of having a nice bedroom (god dammit ¬_¬ for ref, I'm not a fluffy bunny D:) he has to go out in the damn cold because horses who don't NEED stables "have" to be in.

GAH.
When I own my own yard =_= they wont be invited...ever.

Anyway. We've had a good few schooling sessions before I errm, decided? on this unintentional holiday. But I've realized I wont conquer the world on my seat alone, so, I took my stirrups away ^^

Anyway. I'm planning on making a blog for my riding. I'll stick up so info on my main blog:

Jumpies :)

I thought we'd never ever jump, but hell we did xD
He's not the most push button jumper ever but if you ride him into it properly he's got quite a pop on him. He has a slightly strange habit of jumping the bigger part of cross-poles.
Nice ^^
We didn't get any video or pictures unfortunatly :( But next time I'll try and get some. It was late, we were running out of time and yeah.
On the other hand, he's finally got the hang of a consistant outline in walk and trot. Not much leaning anymore and he's just generally getting better and better everyday.
Short update, but I'm trying to get all my blogs up to date hehe :)

Saturday 20 November 2010

We're on the bit!

Woo! We were in Pink and schooled AMAZINGLY.
I'm so please :D

I also got lots of pictures ^^
I thought I'd try out a quiff on him :D
 Beanbag says Hai!
Pink!

He looks a bit big here :S

Overbent, but atleast he's not hollow :)

 Quiff!

This is definitely one of the best co-ords. I'm not pink obsessed (even though I've got pink fluffy headphones, pink iPod, pink piggybank and a pink camera) unfact my favourite colour is blue. But, he really suits it!
I'm going to buy a Baby Pink numnah, some sparklies and finish off the set :D Might make a nice Baby Pink and White browband too.
Obviously, I'm going to do a Baby Blue set first. As much as he suits pink, he suits blue better :)

Schooling 17th November 2010

Yeah huh, we schooled ^^ Something we'll be doing a lot of until he actually manages to come round.
-.- Silly pony.
On the other hand, the colour I picked out out for him seems to work really well.
Our colours are Cornflower Blue (Baby Blue) and White
May see what Baby Blue and Cream looks like :)

Anyway, piccies!
Ahahh xD He's looks a bit like a RS pony from this angle.

Hate my arms :X

Fail, sorta, extension :D

Stupid blurry non-self-focusing camera :(

But, we got a nice canter!

Then went back to our RS type Walk/Trot

Walking off

...and he looked nice for a bit.

Good pony :)

So, that's it.
I want to get a lot of training done with him through the Winter. I'm tempted to change his bit to see if that helps.
I'm in love with those polos though, I found them in my locker and funnily enough used to use them on my old veteran/jumping pony. I guess baby blue has always been my colour :)

We're going to try and line up a W/T test at Quainton Stud (via Aylesbury Vale Dressage Group) soon.
My memory for Dressage tests is so, so crap. I mean, I get past "Go down center line, track right......" and that's it, my mind goes blank :|
Well, I'll try anyway ^^

Unfortunatly, there wont be anymore video updates for a while since my video editing program has gone poof.
The trial ran out o_o
So, until I buy it, which definitely wont be till after my Germany trip, there will only be pictures.

I'm pleased anyway plus, he got two swanky new rugs :D
But he ripped this one in 2 days...

..and hasn't destroyed this one yet.
-.- everyday I don't see him, Mother comes home and starts the conversation with "Guess what some little arse did today."
Q-Q
I know that translates to "Oh, Kao just crapped over about £200 of your money."

We Lunged!

Yes, we did :) and he was amazing.

So, we're going to doing a lot more stuff since he's clipped. Hopefully we'll be able to get to a Walk & Trot test.
Not a massive ambition but hey, it's something :)

This isn't a massive update but we basically got clipped and lunged the proper way (with thanks to the German Doppellonge tutorial videos I found on youtube).

But here's the finished Kao:

He's looking pretty damn awesome if I do say so myself :)

Saturday 13 November 2010

I Didn't Get a Video, But...

...we clipped! :D
The unclippable hath been shaved completely.
I got some video of that if it's any consolation? But anyway ours plans...

I wanted to type this up so you don't think I'm just some douche who updates on a horse that doesn't do anything -.-
Our aims for this year are:

  • Decent, collected W/T/C around the arena, on the bit.
  • Go Hunting! :D
  • Start jumping.
  • Do a Walk & Trot test.
  • Practice Prelim tests at home.
  • Lunge in a "Doppelonge"...I'm not sure, but I think it's a roller with two lines, it's badass either way.
I'll also add this little list to the side bar over there ---->

I love my lists.

Anyway. Kao hadn't woken up from the dope (I'm contemplating taking that stuff myself, the fact I update my blogs at 2am every morning even though I have to get up at 7.30am tells me something...) so it was difficult to get pictures.
I got some on my phone but as you can see the quality is pretty crappy :/

I really do need to bath him.
Me and Mum were itchy, but  can't bare to think how itchy he must be o_o
Warm water and a bubblegum shampoo me thinks.
Oh and...I plan on sticking that hairdye on him too. So, fingers crossed that'll stay in for more than a week.
Mum was planning on going Show Jumping tomorrow. But I'm getting up earlier to bath him incase we do go I want to pootle around the warm-up before anyone else get's there.

Eeh, I need sleep xD
Pictures and videos are promised though tomorrow :)

Resolved Selling Woe's and Capt'n Kao!

I got the hacking video :)

Yeah, mwahaha!
And that isn't even my latest attempt, oh no. Today we had a jolly muesli filled Bean Bag, a Ham who fell on his face and a ginger stick.
In gale force winds, pouring with rain, home time for the local *and might I add very full* primary school plus mothers with umbrellas.
Yum.
Long story short, he didn't flip out (I thought he might bust a ball with the umbrellas, even the bombproof ponies can surprise you). Stan wouldn't go past them and Ham, well, he was too busy losing weight at the back to worry about anything else. So it was up to Capt'n Kao Bag to lead everyone to safety.
He did so, very well, with no spookage :)

He's being clipped tomorrow :S
We're going to attempt it again, the vet sent us some sedative stronger than Sedeline but lighter than the dope injection so fingers crossed it works.

I put him up on horsemart last night :/ I've had a lot of enquiries about him but I really don't think I'm doing the right thing, at all.
I've been offered swaps, part exchanges, everything and some how, for some reason turned them all down.
Stuck, severely. I wanted to hunt him through the Winter and start on his jumping work soon, we've established a really good W/T/C and I said as soon as he gets that we can start jumping.

My aunt had a good idea to keep him on for another 6months - 1 year and see how it goes. Where ever I work in Germany there will always be placement for 1 horse and my idea was to buy a horse out there but really, it's taken me 14 years to be able to bond with a horse almost instantly and it seems stupid to give up now.
Eeh :|
Anyway, here's some pictures of him from today.
Bean Bag got his own stable tonight :)
With Stan.
His other funky eye! The other one is a 1/2 Halo and this is a 1/3 Halo.
He's pretty unique :)

Will DEFINITELY get a video tomorrow!

Profile on Sir Patchy Self

-.- As much as I love doing profiles. Not at 1.37am...just. no.
But, this stuff needs to be done. Keek shall prevail! :3

When he arrived

Now :) *sorry for the unclean-ness*

Name: Kao
Show Name: The Lady Killer
Height: 14.1hh (and growing x_x)
Year of Birth: 2005
Gender: Gelding (ex breeding stallion)
Colour: Bay Sabino Tobiano
Breed: Clydesdale x (we think Paint. Another bunch of people have said Arab from the way his tail sticks bolt upright when he runs...O.o)
Type: Cob/Warmblood (technically, according to this [linkeh] he is a warmblood. So shove it ass hats. I'm right. Mwahaha!)
Progeny: I don't have the exact details on all his foals. All I know is, there's a lot of them.

Uhh. So his story hmm.
As far as I know it went something this.

Bought by dealer person (whom I bought him off) at 6 months.
Backed as a yearling.
Bred as a 2 and 3 year old.
Gelded at 4.
Sold to me at 5.

I don't think there's anything to give detail about. Apart from he's a very misunderstood little pinto bean.
Well was. He's a little bit like a flump now.
He's been quite a project, still is really. But when he arrived -.- I couldn't touch his legs, couldn't pick his feet out without getting stood on or cow-kicked at, couldn't touch his ears, just generally turned into a f*cking wreck.
Even though all these problems arose when he arrived, I thought "k. He fits. I winged like a bitch for this horse. F*ck everything."
So, I kicked my winey arse into gear and got on with it.
The progress since then, has been absolutely incredible.

He's still nervous, but his confidence has soared in the past few weeks.
We decided to turn him out with two other boys, Stan the TB and Hammie, in a massive 10 acre field to eat down till December.
While he's a little sh*t to catch when the others are being fed, he sometimes comes to call *depends on the weather ^^* He's got a bit of trust in me I think.
Until I got him, I thought every was just a typical, over-emotional, woman when they say "Omg I'm so proud! He's come so far! *bawls*" I sit back with the "=_= Grow up and cook my dinner." look.
But, now I know how they feel. There have been times where I could totally winge my nuts off over this pony.

Fail xD We were just starting walk walk though. To be fair ^^

We do have one major flaw in our plan to world domination.
He wont be clipped.
=_=
It took 7ml of Sedaline paste/gel, a twitch and someone holding his leg up for Mum to try and clip just his legs. He STILL managed to kick her o_o
He's not naughty, believe me I know a naughty pony when I see one, he really is just generally petrified of them. I've resorted to chopping of his feathers and beard with a mane rake. Works :D
If he does end up looking like he's going to get anywhere, then I'll obviously attempt to "clipper-tame" him. Probably will have no success but you got to try these things! :)

I've owned him 3 months in...2 days I do believe :)
I can honestly tell you now. I never in a million years expected my "main" horse to be a coloured cob gelding.
I'm partial to coloureds, but not orangey-bayish ones (because you can't just put any old colour on them and get away with it).
I wouldn't want to own a cob. I just wouldn't. A ton of bad experiences has caused a very slight dislike of them...there's a few exceptions but, they don't fart butterflies and glitter like everyone thinks.
They just. Don't.
They more like, fart smoke signals to satan, their creator o_o
Geldings. I like geldings, but the really good ones...don't really serve a proper purpose do they ^^' *man I'm going to regret saying that one day when my face is broken* They're just as temperamental as a mare, the riggy ones try and hump your leg *it's happened to me. that's how I know =_=* and really, I bet Red Rums breeders/owners balls hurt when he became so successful xD
For some horses, the poorly bred ones with no real purpose anyway, gelding is the way to go.

However. Since Kao is ex breeder and wasn't mutilated as soon as he dropped, could be why we've got a lot of trust in each other ^^ He's the *sort of* stallion I wanted, but not.
xD

My first video of us :)

Really though. He's pretty perfect, except for that clipping thing.
That's not good. It's erm, yeah.
But I ask myself, do I give up on what is possibly the best horse I've ever owned or deal with a little bit of sweat after workout.
No brainer really isn't it? :)

Uh.
Yeah.
I'm retiring to my bed now.
It's taken me almost an hour to write this. I now have no depth perception and...the screen is going blurry.

I'll have another update for ya'll tomorrow, hopefully will get a new video :)
